Sasuke brings out the big guns: his Sharingan. But more flashback, some of which is just taken from episode 8X with a little extra.

We get the end of the flashback and now it's time for Naruto and Sasuke to really get it on. Sasuke admits that his time with team seven hasn't been meaningless. From their adventures, he has gained Naruto as his closest friend and thus, he will gain the Mangekyou Sharingan if he succeeds in killing Naruto.

Sakura's back at base worrying and Kakashi, having returned from his mission, has been filled in. He doesn't have the heart to tell Sakura not to worry, because, truth be told, there is everything to worry about. And back at the waterfall, the two are still duelling it out and it gets more ferocious by the second. It's sad, it's not until the first chidori that Naruto realises Sasuke is taking this duel seriously and then we see how Naruto has felt about Sasuke since they were kids (I love the park flashback, though better in the manga).

With Naruto not fighting back, Sasuke lands many a punch and kick and finally grabs hold of Naruto in one hand, with a powered up Chidori in the other. With that, he punches a hole through Naruto's upper torso but this is the moment the Kyuubi decides to kick in and before Sasuke can end Naruto's life, he's knocked back by Naruto's rage.

Thus follows Sasuke getting beaten up in some very poorly animated scenes. Naruto screams at Sasuke and resolves to take him back, be it with every single bone broken, yet Sasuke shouts that Naruto can never understand someone like him. Sasuke has so many loved ones taken away from him whereas Naruto started off alone. Yet, Naruto thinks him and Sasuke have become almost like brothers.

Sasuke is actually quite touched by this. It's not enough for him to return to Konoha, it's too late. But he finally puts his forehead protector on, as a sign that he acknowledges Naruto (remember he's always said Naruto could never even scratch his forehead) and continues the battle. Sasuke claims he can only get stronger from the pain of severing such a tie with Naruto. And oh look! A third dot has appeared in his Sharingan. This gives Sasuke the advantage now, even though he thinks it's due to the curse seal.

For a moment, it almost seems like Sasuke is feeling a little remorse about this but oh no, Naruto is still being powered by the Kyuubi so more badly animated fighting ensues. With this new chakra, Sasuke's curse seal is released again but this time he allows it to get to level two and a rather scary looking dude emerges. Is he really more special than Naruto?

 _____//EPISODE 134

The anime seems to have got this part over and done with a lot faster than the anime. And here it is, the final chidori vs rasengan. Who's the winner? Uchiha Sasuke. A nice touch though, Naruto scratching Sasuke's forehead protector. At the end of it all, Sasuke appears to look a bit guilty, so maybe he is not all bad. Plus, he doesn't want to gain power by Itachi's method, he will do so his own way... and he walks on into the darkness.

Well, Sasuke has definitely run into the arms of Orochimaru and Sakura... poor girl, she was told the genins had returned but no one told her that Sasuke wasn't in the party. She pretends like it's not true but thanks to Naruto's determination, she has reason to smile again.

 _____//EPISODE 136

The animation magically gets better here. It starts off with manga scenes and then creeps into a filler arc. Sakura, ponders over what has happened and she realises she is just "pathetic". All she has done is rely on Naruto and does nothing herself and hence, she decides to take some action. From her visit at the hospital, Naruto senses her plan and so does Jiraiya and so, the three set out on a mission to scount the Country of Field, Orochimaru's home base.

Basically and frankly, even though Sakura said she'd try harder she is still a burden on the mission. She can do small things like throw a few kunai but y'know, in the bigger picture, it ain't that much.
