Aries is a masculine sign ruled by the warrior planet Mars, whose motto must be "Crash through, or crash!". A cardinal (creative and inventive) sign, Aries, governs leadership and initiative. Aries people are bold and self-confident, although they tend to be overly impulsive.

Ariens are always overflowing with ideas, schemes and plans to conquer the world, for a well-aspected sun in Aries radiates power and vitality. Many a moth has been burned in its flame! Life, of course, is one long party.

Ariens are great organisers, full of flair and originality, although usually lacking discipline and the capacity for prolonged effort (minions must be found to do the slog work!). Despite their charm, they often find that some unforeseen problem seems to emerge that prevents them from obtaining the object of their desire and those to whom they are most attracted may indeed fail to respond in the way they expect. Ariens need to harness their powerful energies, or even rein them in a little, so that those with whom they would like to spend time are not overwhelmed by their battle tactics.

A fixed (strong and solid) sign, Leo governs will and authority. It is a fire sign, which means Leo people are grand, confident and generous, although they tend to be egocentric and can be somewhat overbearing.

Determined Leo, a fixed sign, can be rather stubborn and resistant to imposed changes. In many ways this is a plus, for it gives them the stamina to accomplish things in life, due to their tenacity. Leos can stick with projects when other more easily distracted souls lose concentration or interest. This stubbornness, which they prefer to think of as consistency and determination, is, however, dictated more often than not by their ego.

Some Leo's can find themselves clinging to bad relationships or mistaken beliefs, because their egos simply will not allow them to admit to being wrong. However, such typical tenacity becomes an asset when shown as loyalty to friends, or as patience and determination to succeed.

Personal charm and physical magnetism make them the centre of attention, which of course is very much to theirsatisfaction. An ardent lover, their enthusiasm and passion must be returned in equal measure, or they may become bored and dissatisfied with their wimpy partner. A weak partner invites them to completely dominate the scene, a situation which is less than ideal for both parties. Fire loves Fire and the match of Aries and Leo is strong. It can work to perfection as long as two simple rules are followed. Rule number one is: if the Ram thinks to win a contest of wills with the Lion, monarch of the Zodiac, the Ram must think again. Rule number two states that no Ram shall forget rule number one.

In many ways, this is an ideal match. Both Aries and Leo are Fire Signs, so they are immediate and inspirational in their styles. They share a powerful determination to achieve their goals. They're not afraid of passion or hard work. The Big Cat's determination can complement the Ram's venturesome spirit. Equally, the Arien's independence of mind and action can give broaden the Lion's fixity of purpose. Listen to each other! Given harmonious placements of Mars and Venus, life in the bedroom will be exciting, so long as certain arrangements about power sharing are made.

They can both operate off a short fuse, but also enjoy the long haul. Fire signs need to express their natural vigour through the body. They must be careful about how they handle winning and losing though, for both signs strongly prefer the former to the latter. If they end up in a serious contest, they could have a serious problem for neither of them finds it easy to back down once fired up. However, the Lion will not give in, while the Ram will eventually find something more interesting to do.
